Mykonos is a Greek island in the Cyclades group in the Aegean Sea.  It is extremely popular in the summer with boutique hotels, luxury villas, and numerous shops – Greece’s answer to St. Tropez, France.  With golden sand swept by sapphire blue waters, the island hosts two million visitors a year – many staying locally in the 120,000 hotel rooms and others visiting for the day via the numerous ferries that service the island.  Chora (Old Town) is full of shops, residences, boutique hotels and churches.  Just beyond the Alefkandra district (known as “Little Venice” due to the architecture of the beachfront buildings with terraces) is a row of five windmills harking back to the 16th century when the island was known for its grain production – Mykonos’s nickname is “the island of the winds”.
