Our morning arrival on Santa Ana (also known as Owaraha or Owa Raha), Solomon Islands, was timed so that we had an opportunity for meeting the local islanders and participate in “retail therapy” (shopping in their open air, artisan market) before a series of traditional ceremonial dances.  Some of the artisans and some of the dance troupes had canoed over from neighboring islands for our visit.  We ended up watching five very different dances, each reflecting the culture of the dance troupes.  [For an introduction to Santa Ana, see our previous blog post “Santa Ana (also known as Owaraha or Owa Raha), Solomon Islands”.]
